My 300th Blogpost!

Hello. This is my 300th blogpost. It has been a while since my 200th blogpost. It feels like it was a term ago, which it was! I hope you visitors all come onto my blog and check out all of my learning. It has been very fun blogging over the year. Thank you. ;)

This was the first time I wrote something like this

How I Quit Sucking My Thumb!

By Bruce Lansky

My mother says it’s childish and
my father says it’s dumb—
whenever they discover that
I’m sucking on my thumb.
It’s such a silly thing to do,
as everybody knows.
So now instead of sucking it
I stick it in my nose.

My Normal Family

By Kathy Kenny-Marshall

My daddy snores and sucks his toes.
My brother likes to lick his nose.
My doggy meows, my kitten barks.
My goldfish chases sticks in parks.
My sister walks while upside down.
My mother hops all over town.
Her skin is purple, don’t you know.
And I am green from head to toe.
My dad is red, my sister’s blue.
My brother’s yellow; yes, it’s true.
We all wear raincoats in the sun
And gobble lima beans for fun.
We’re very special, can’t you see?
We’re just a normal family!

Falling Asleep In Class

I fell asleep in class today,
as I was awfully bored.
I laid my head upon my desk
and closed my eyes and snored.

I woke to find a piece of paper
sticking to my face.
I'd slobbered on my textbooks,
and my hair was a disgrace.

My clothes were badly rumpled,
and my eyes were glazed and red.
My binder left a three-ring
indentation in my head.

I slept through class, and probably
I would have slept some more,
except my students woke me
as they headed out the door.

Addition Triangle

This is my second Addition Triangle...

Addition Triangle

Here is my first addition triangle. I had to add up random numbers under ten,
then add the tens numbers (10, 15, 14, 10), which then added up to the twenties,
and after adding the double digits, I had my answer, 107!

Comprehension Activity

Today on Comprehension Activity, I was using a story (Time Out - Todd Macguire) to play the activity. I based it on one of the characters, whose name is "Caitlin". I had to describe her personality, and find out about what happened to her in the story.

Waves Of Fury

Waving at beach,
lapping at shore
Cannot contain
itself anymore.

Thunderous bolts
fly overhead.
Pretty display
but not be mislead.

Sky opens up,
Down falls heavy rain.
There seems no hope
for calmness again.

And in the middle
a ship does fall,
pulling down captain
shipmates and all.

Word left unspoken
by ones that have died
slowly are said
by the unruly tide.

The piers on the edge
once, tall, strong and high -
down on the bottom
silently lie.

As the sea lies down,
stable and flat,
great clouds arrive
where waves once sat.

Oceans hold beauty
that captures its prey,
still by night,
yet roaring b day.

Some say they rule it.
Some disagree.
But one thing's for sure -
the sea's captured me.

Peaceful Words

My Writing Today

In the olden days, there was a mythical village named Waikikamukau. People roamed the streets at 6:00am and went out at some point at 6:00pm. Straight. There were big, tall, buildings that were a million storeys high. Cars were old-fashioned, all polished and clean. Everyone wore colourful clothing, even shoes. Although, some villagers wore black and white. There was also people who predicted the future. Like floods filling the streets, earthquakes separating the buildings, and tornados destroying the homes. Luckily, no one believed them.

One moon night, the giant moon rose on the horizon, Making the night blue. A festival happened near the main village, Faliti. Bonfires were made, for cooking pigs and other dead animals, people were talking about stuff, and everyone was happy. Except for one future-predictor (or meron).

“The moon will crack open!” yelled the Meron to the people, interrupting the fire display. “The moon will reach the Earth!”  rumored the Meron. The people murmured something to the Meron. “What an idiot!” said a villager. “Wrong!” announced another. “Please! Believe me!” repeated the Meron, over and over again, and then the people stared at him. What did they do? They arrested the Meron, sending him to a cell, where the people throw food at the “prisoner”.

“Hooray!” yelled the villagers, excitedly, but, their celebrations lasted for a short amount of time. Suddenly, a big rumble shook the villagers, shaking the food, and furniture. Some people looked up to the sky, gasping. “The Moon!” people yell out. The moon falls apart like a cookie. Boom! A big chunk of the blue moon comes closer to the Earth. “The Meron was right!” announced the chief. “Run for your lives, everyone!” he said more.

“Let me out!” yelled the Meron, “Don’t leave me behind!”. So many people came through like a pack of elephants. The crowd made many destruction, it destroyed the gaol the Meron was trapped in. He yelled out to the people on a small hut. “People! People! Run for shelter!” he announced. Everyone was just in time to come into shelter, just when the moon reached the earth. BOOM! CRASH! The village is in ruins. Buildings are gone, houses burnt down, but no one was dead. All saved by the Meron. The chief went to honour him as the next chief of a new village.

Earth Song - Michael Jackson

(VERSE 1)
What about sunrise?
What about rain?
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain?

What about killing fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the things
That you said were yours and mine?

(INTRO)
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before?
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?

Aaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaah

(VERSE 2)
What have we done to the world?
Look what we've done.
What about all the peace
That you pledge your
Only son?

What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams
That you said were yours and mine?

(INTRO)
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war?
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?

(CHORUS)
Aaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaah

I used to dream
I used to glance
beyond the stars
Now I don't know
where we are
Although I know

(go to CHORUS)

(go to CHORUS x2)

(REFRAIN)
Hey, what about yesterday?
What about the seas?
The heavens are falling down?
I can't even breath.

What about the bleeding Earth?
Can't we feel its wounds?
What about nature's worth?
It's our planet's womb.

What about animals?
We've turned kingdoms to dust.
What about elephants?
Have we lost their trust?

What about crying whales?
We're ravaging the seas.
What about forest trails,
Burnt despite our pleas?

What about the holy land?
Torn apart by creed.
What about the common man?
Can't we set him free?

What about children dying?
Can't you hear them cry?
Where did we go wrong?
Someone tell me why.

What about babies?
What about the days?
What about all their joy?
What about the man?

What about the crying man?
What about Abraham?
What about death again?
Do we give a damn?

Skills and Talents

My Writing Today

On the day of Halloween, I came back from school. Skies were filled with blue, not a cloud in view. I was looking outside, no one on the roads. The wind was blowing nicely, like it was hitting me in the face. Realizing my mistake, we had no lollies, it was a little bad, because now trick or treaters now walk on the land. I’ve eaten all the lollies, that was a mistake, so we had to go out, the little hearts we could break.

At least 15 “Trick or Treaters” came up to the door, and I kept wondering, why not some more? My mum went out lied and said kindly, “Happy Halloween, but we have nothing.”. So, I had an idea, writing a letter saying “Sorry, but No Trick or Treat.” Before the night of Halloween. Trick or treaters marched out of their houses, wandering around, but as for me, I put my head back down. Vampires, Karate kids, princesses and zombies. I had no idea, they're coming for treats.

Then, out of nowhere, the moon was bursting up the sky, like toast, going as fast as a turtle, and the zombie outfits started to turn real. Limping, groaning, hungry for lollies, coming to houses, hearing people scream. They came to my door, banging on the wood. Crashing the windows, I got scared and I stood. Zoomed downstairs, my heart was beating like a drum. Then I saw the fright of the night. Shivering, cold running down my spine.

“Oh, oh, oh my.” I said, trembling with fear. Then, BANG. The windows in the living room have bursted open. Fear. My insides start to swell. I had no choice but to run out of here. I grabbed the doorknob and then, no one was there. I was on the couch, listening to the sound of banging on the door. I walked to the door. I opened the door. “Trick or Treat!” the Trick or treaters say. “Sorry, but no.” I exclaimed.
